However, most websites today need both, because users expect much greater interaction with a site, thus other programmes are needed to run them. We begin with the front-end.
Front-end Programming
This involves programming the languages that display the website as you can see it. Websites were previously created in pure HTML (Hypertext markup language), however because the demand for advanced interactions has increased, the restrictions of plain HTML became very apparent. Most websites today are created using both XHTML (Extensible Hypertext Mark-up Language) and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) languages, because they are compatible in every Internet Browser, we will go into these in more detail later.
Back-end Programming
There are many operations occurring behind the scenes that allow users certain interactions with a website. The ability to search a website for what you want, to make online payments and create online accounts are all made possible by back-end programmes.
Forms and search functions require additional languages to enable the communication between the website and the database or payment facility, and it is our job to write the code and make sure it works with the specific website.
